Welcome to The Loco Shed IndexWe are in the process of moving the old Steam Shed Database into a more manageable form and page driven site. This is an ongoing historical project bringing together details of the engine sheds and other facts about the railways in the UK. It will continue alongside, but separate from, the locomotive shed allocations database which has become difficult to maintain. The data is partly researched and partly by referenced contributions by visitors to the site. We welcome additions and suggested improvements to these pages from all visitors. The main search facility available on this site is to locate an engine shed using a full, partial or indexed match. Then from those results, it is possible to step to details of the shed. We decided to publish this site in its present state given the perceived importance of the data to the Model Railway Community and following some support in the very popular online community RMWeb.
