23 Aug 2010 - Well the end is in sight. No more than 100 left to go with just London and about 8 other locations with multiple sheds to sort out. All will hopefully be complete by early September and we can catch up on some of the correspondence. Again can we express our wish to be contacted through the Shed Forum. Using the email is unlikely to reach us as it has become the destination of spam email (typically 500+ per day) and much of it is destroyed by the anti spam filters. Of the rest, it is a difficult process sorting out offers of photographs of more information from offers of less desirable nature.

4 Aug 2010 - We have now passed the 1374 shed count listed in the old database with the new count standing at 1453. As mentioned earlier we estimate there are some 450 yet to be transferred over from the merged data. Most of these outstanding are in Central & Eastern England and London.

15 Jul 2010 - Although the meter above is now indicating 80% complete transfer, this is now misleading. Nearly all the additions since the last news update have been added from David's spreadsheet. In fact, as a rough estimate, we think we are looking at about 450 new additions to the database.

4 Jul 2010 - 60% of the database transferred but now the total has changed. We would like to express our thanks to David Rimmer who has sent us a copy of his spreadsheet containing a list of collected sheds and service points. While initial examination has shown a considerable overlap with our database, we have already found many that will be new to our listing.

20 Jun 2010 - 40% transfer milestone passed, now with all Scottish steam locomotive sheds included ... unless you know different?

7 Jun 2010 - Quite good progress 20% complete.

On 15 May 2010 we commenced the slow move of the Shed data from the old site database to a new format.
This may take some time as we are reviewing the data as we do this.

The reason for the move is due to structure and security problems with the old site and the continuing issue for us of collecting your valued contact emails from it.

Current: 1868 The new site The Loco Shed Index, will take some time to bring up to speed and many of the pages may have broken placeholders/links until we arrive at a stable site.

The number of shed details that have been transferred and its progress will be indicated here.

Meanwhile The Team can be contacted through the Shed Forum with suggestions for the site or with sheds that you would like to see prioritised, photographs or appropriate external links.

The original database is closed to further changes but should still work for those sheds not yet transferred.
